A poem to a painting, but not like this

Stark

With breathless ineptitude,

why could

Kandinsky said to him:'

“Have you considered

basket weaving?”

in the cool grottoes of his lair

Nolde

whose designs captured the imaginary

yet whose politics were disingenuous

even words would not disclaim

the utter garbage that came through the canvas.

Dalí

would paint a satired landscape

with more feeling in every line than this one could imagine in every note and cranny.

the secret to modern art or any other,

is that the best shines brightly

and the worse it gets hung in picture galleries,

and the criticism comes from the fractionation

of the misremembered name.

Beethoven

once said:

“I enjoyed your Opera last night,

I think I shall set it to music.”
